Engine arriving at Fortrose - c1950???'Barney' 17703 has just arrived from Muir of Ord. Jack Mackenzie is about to drop the 'key' on the platform, so that Station staff can use it to indicate state of the line. He will then uncouple the engine from the train before the engine makes for the turntable.

It is recorded in Highland Railway Locomotives Book 2(Cormack & Stevenson)that this locomotive acheived a speed of just under 55 MPH near Munlochy,on the 3.35pm from Muir of Ord to Fortrose during August 1937. This was an attempt to gain time lost by a late start.
